Questions hosts ask

Are paper eclipse glasses safe for children?

Yes, with an adult watching. The filter is the same certified solar film in every pair. Children should wear them from the first moment they look up, and an adult should check the glasses stay on. For under-fives we recommend supervised viewing only, or a viewing projector rather than glasses.

Do eclipse glasses expire?

Undamaged glasses that meet ISO 12312-2 do not expire. What matters is condition. Before eclipse day, hold each pair up to a bright lamp: if you see any pinholes, scratches or peeling, throw that pair out. Each unit carries a QR code so you can confirm the batch and certification.

When do we need them on in Sydney?

From first contact at 12:40pm until totality begins at 1:59pm, and again from the end of totality at 2:03pm through to 3:14pm. Glasses come off only during the 3 minutes 49 seconds of totality itself, and only in the path of totality. Outside the path the eclipse stays partial and the glasses stay on the whole time.

Can I use them with binoculars, a telescope or a camera?

No. Eclipse glasses are for naked-eye viewing only. Concentrated light through a lens will burn through the filter and damage your eyes in an instant. Optics need a dedicated solar filter fitted to the front of the instrument.

Can we choose the frame print?

Yes. Packs ship in a single print by default: Tide, Writhe, Wave Stripes or Cosmic Grid. Tell us your preferred print, or ask for a mix, when you register interest. For your own artwork, see custom-branded glasses.

Do you ship outside NSW?

Yes. Stock is held in NSW and ships Australia-wide. Shipping is quoted with your order and is included in the confirmation before anything is charged.
